Eye of the Monolith is our progressive metal concept album of a fictional story written loosely based on ancient Mayan civilization where each song is a sequence of the overall story. It’s about the discovery and exploration of an ancient monolith and the evil lurking within. See below for the story behind each song!

The story starts off with the Mayans’ discovery of a large ancient monolithic structure in a forest nearby. Curious, the Mayans start to explore the monolith. As they start to explore, it feels as if someone or something is whispering to them, taunting them to go deeper inside. The Mayans wonder: “Is there something inside, something alive?”. They decide to go further and investigate the monolith.

A group of Mayans eager to gain the glory of exploration enter a cave that leads inside the monolith. They’re afraid of what could be inside but they swallow their fear, surrendering to their excitement. They hear voices calling them downwards and they follow them as they trot down. Their presence begins to awaken the malice within the center of the monolith as they continue to tread downward.

As the group reaches the center of the monolith, they start to discover treasure and gold. Excited by prospects of fortune and fame, they start grabbing all the treasure they can to bring back up. They notice corpses of bodies next to the gold chalices they collect which unsettles them, but they continue on collecting. Talking amongst themselves, they theorize that this treasure may be cursed and could be a bad omen for them. Blinded by greed they tread deeper and deeper into the monolith to find more fortune.

The group continues to march downwards into the monolith until darkness surrounds them. Without light around them, they lose each other and become separated. This song describes their loneness and hopelessness being trapped within the shadows of the monolith.

After hours surrounded by nothing but darkness, one of the Mayans begins to see a dim light. A voice talks to him claiming that if he finds the center of the monolith, he will be able to return home. With no choice, the Mayan willingly follows the dim light. Whispers seem to be talking in ancient tongues and he suspects that these whispers are ghosts of Primordials from ancient times. They tell him of their story - the Primordials were are ancient species of hive-minded microorganisms from the Proxima Centauri system. They fed on the life force of anything in their surroundings, but once their source of nourishment became depleted they faced extinction. As a last resort, they sent a handful of themselves on a journey to Earth to start anew. The bodies of these Primordials fused to form a massive indestructible spaceship resembling a menacing black monolith, which they christened "The Primordials' Gift". The Mayan is suspicious about the intentions of the voices he hears, as some of them seem to be talking about destruction and mayhem. He worries that his participation could trigger something horrible, but eager to escape the monolith he continues to follow the voices.

As the Mayan approaches the center of the monolith the lights begin to become brighter and brighter. He reaches the central compartment of the monolith where bright lights appear to shoot out and blind in all directions. He stares into the center of the monolith and finds what seems to be a large ball of energy that almost looks like an eye. After staring intently he realizes that the eye is the energy from the souls of ancient primordials. He gets a strange feeling and realizes he is unable to look away. The eye is hypnotizing him and he has lost control over his body. He believes he is in the presence of greatness and must sacrifice his worthless soul to the eye of the monolith. In a split second the Mayan manages to look away and break free, he scurries away to try to escape the wrath of the monolith.

After escaping the gaze of the monolith the Mayan runs towards the darkness. Blood seeps from the walls as he runs through the base of the monolith trying to escape and the whispers seem to become more irritated and aggressive. They begin to form into yells chanting their superiority and dominance over the mayan. Their exposure to the Mayan has fed their strength and the structure of the monolith begins to rumble. The voices threaten the Mayan claiming that he will face their wrath. He runs through the monolith attempting to escape.

As the Mayan is running around the monolith trying to escape from the eye, he runs into more of the Mayans who were trapped within the monolith. He warns them of the danger behind him and tells them all to escape. They realize they are missing several other members of the original group and decide to scour the monolith to find them before they exit. This song is about the rescue and escape of the mayans from the inside of the monolith.

Once all the Mayans have been found, they start their final exit out of the monolith. They realize that the eye’s energy is close behind them. They find the exit, but the eye does not seem to be slowing down. The power it had gained from the touch of a mayan had granted it strength to exit into the outer world. It rises above the monolith and begins its wrath on the outside world. (This is the picture seen in the album art). The voice of the primordial souls reverberates throughout the torn up earth: “I AM THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS”. Guilt drains the blood from the mayans’ faces. They realized that they have unleashed terror upon the world. They realize that in order to vanquish this evil, they must seal it back inside the monolith. A war breaks out between the primordial souls and the Mayans over the control of the land. The war between the two goes back and fourth, battle after battle but the mayans seem to gain the advantage in the end. The Mayan’s seal away the malice of the souls of the primordials, never to be seen again. With the land torn and barren from war, the Mayans begin to start anew.
